School Survival Guide: Your Pencil Case Must-Haves
School Survival Guide: Your Pencil Case Must-Haves
Your teacher asks everyone to take out a pen. Easy, right?
Until you're digging through all the rubbish in your pencil case trying to find something that actually works. Dead pens, tiny pencils, dried-out highlighters... why is all of this even in here?!
If your pencil case is full but somehow never has what you need, it's time for a reset.
Welcome to the Blippo School Survival Guide Series, where we're sharing simple tips to make school life easier and a lot more kawaii.
So, what should you actually keep in your pencil case? Let’s find out!
First: Clean Out Your Pencil Case
Before buying anything new, empty your pencil case completely. Yes, everything.
Test all your pens. Throw out the ones with no ink or the ones that mysteriously only work when they feel like it. Have a pen you've carried around for six months but never actually want to use? That can go too. The goal isn't to have the fullest pencil case. It's to have one where everything inside is useful, working, and ready when you need it.
Once you've cleared everything out, it's time to rebuild your school stationery kit!
1. Three Pens You Actually Like
We're calling this the 3-Pen Rule. Instead of stuffing your pencil case with random pens, choose three working pens that you actually enjoy writing with.
Having a few reliable favorites means you won't spend 10 minutes digging through your bag trying to find one that works. And when you really like your pens, you're more likely to take care of them too.
It's also a good idea to have access to black, blue, and red ink for classes that require different colors. A multi-color pen is perfect for this because you can get several ink colors without taking up extra space!
And yes, choosing a cute pen is completely valid. If a little Sanrio character makes note-taking 20% more enjoyable, we'll take it.
2. Three 2B Pencils
After the 3-Pen, the 3-Pencil Rule comes next. One for you. One spare. One to lend.
Keep at least three 2B pencils in your pencil case so you're prepared for tests, worksheets, math problems, and anything else that calls for a pencil instead of a pen.
And that third pencil is important. It's the pencil you can happily lend to the classmate who whispers, "Do you have an extra pencil?" Because lending out your favorite pencil? Risky business.
Why share a plain, boring pencil? Pick your favorites from Blippo’s kawaii pencil collection and keep a few extras on hand for spreading kawaii vibes!
3. One Good Eraser
Nothing is worse than when you use an eraser and it actually leaves a giant smudge behind. Choose an eraser that removes pencil marks cleanly without damaging or smearing your paper.
Before putting a cute eraser in your pencil case, test it! If it makes your mistake look worse, it has officially failed the School Survival Guide.
4. A Few Colored Highlighters
Highlighters can save you a lot of time when you're reviewing notes. While having one good highlighter is enough for the basics, carrying a few different colors can make your notes even easier to scan.
Just remember: Don't highlight the whole page! If everything is highlighted, nothing is highlighted. Instead, use your highlighter for the information you'll actually want to find later, such as:
Key vocabulary
Important dates
Formulas
Definitions
Main ideas
Just keep your system simple. We don't need a color-coded system that requires its own instruction manual.

5. A Pack of Sticky Notes
Sticky notes are tiny school-day lifesavers, especially if you're the kind of person who thinks, "I'll definitely remember that later."
Spoiler: sometimes you won't.
Use sticky notes for reminders, quick notes, page markers, study questions, or important information you need to see again. You can stick them on your desk, planner, notebook, or textbook.
And if you're going to see them all day, they might as well be cute! Check out Blippo's collection of cute sticky notes featuring kawaii characters from Sanrio, San-x, and more that might actually make those reminders worth looking at.
Pencil Case Extras That Are Nice to Have
Once you've packed the essentials, you can add a few extra supplies if your pencil case still has room.
Small ruler:Useful for math, diagrams, and drawing straight lines. It can double as a bookmark too.
Pencil sharpener:Pick one that collects the shavings to keep your pencil case mess-free. If you use mechanical pencils instead, pack some spare lead.
Paper clips:Keep a few around for loose worksheets or use them as quick page markers.
That's it! Your pencil case doesn't need to be packed to the brim. A few reliable supplies you actually use are better than digging through a case full of clutter.
